Statement condemning ICE activity in Acton

BOSTON (5/13/2025) — Representative Danillo Sena (D - Acton) released the following statement regarding recent reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in Acton.

“In Acton, we support our immigrant communities. Acton accepted my family when we moved to the United States back in 2001. Our neighbors supported us. When we immigrated, we found a community that not only welcomed us, but uplifted us.

“Now, reports are emerging of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents taking action in Acton and in communities around us. The Acton Police confirmed that ICE was operating in Acton on May 10th. This is not only disturbing, but it’s insulting to all of us who live here. Immigrants in our area are calling my office because they are scared to go to work or school out of a fear of ICE. This is not right.

“On May 11th, less than 24 hours after news broke of ICE action in Acton, hundreds gathered at the Town Hall to rally against the terror and injustice at the hands of the federal administration. The message was clear: ICE is not welcome in Acton.

“I am honored to represent a district that fights against injustice. The people of the 37th Middlesex care about our neighbors, and we will not stand by while the Trump administration seeks to divide us.

“I also want to remind folks that no matter your legal status, you have rights. You have the right to remain silent if you are arrested. You also have the right to call your attorney. Do not speak with ICE officials until you have consulted with your attorney. If you have questions, concerns, or would like to learn more, organizations like the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition and the American Civil Liberties Union publish information to support our immigrants.

“Our communities will not remain silent. We will stand up, we will organize, and we will fight for justice.”
