Statement on the killing of Joan Sebastian Guerrero & Lorenzo Salgado Araujo
BOSTON (7/23/2025) — Representative Danillo Sena (D - Acton) released the following statement:
“Last week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents fatally shot Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine, during a vehicle stop. Joan was a father, a husband, and a beloved member of his community.
“His killing is just the latest in a series of inexcusable, heartless deaths at the hands of the Department of Homeland Security. Just a few days before, ICE fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, an immigrant living in Houston, Texas, during a vehicle stop.
“Whether at a vehicle stop or in their custody, ICE continues to show their negligence and disregard for the lives of Americans. Please join me in keeping Joan and Lorenzo in our thoughts and prayers, while also recognizing that this alone is not enough. We must protect our communities. We must stand against ICE. We must ensure that innocent people like Joan and Lorenzo are guaranteed safety and well-being. No more immigrant lives lost.”
