Rep. Sena highlights victories in FY27 house budget, including $125,000 in local earmarks
FY27 House Budget includes investments in education, immigration aid, and $125,000 in earmarks for the 37th Middlesex District
BOSTON – State Representative Danillo Sena (D - Acton) voted in favor of passing the House’s version of the FY27 budget on April 29, 2026, which included $125,000 for local projects in his district as well as funding in crucial areas like education and immigration.
The House FY27 budget dedicates $57 million for regional school transportation, $7 million for the Immigration Legal Assistance Fund, and raises Chapter 70 education aid to $160 per pupil. Rep. Sena has advocated for these investments throughout this legislative session.
“I am proud to support a number of important investments in the FY27 budget that support our communities,” said Rep. Danillo Sena. “This funding comes at a time of significant federal uncertainty caused by the Trump Administration and its severe government spending cuts. While Massachusetts faces tough decisions, it’s important to stand up for everyone in our communities.”
This year’s budget also included $125,000 in earmarks filed by Rep. Sena on behalf of local communities for the following initiatives:
$25,000 for shade pavilion for the Acton Community Dog Park
$25,000 for improvements and new shelving for West Acton Citizens’ Library
$25,000 for low-income childrens’ camp attendance for Summer in Shirley
$25,000 for the study of PFAS effects on residents in Ayer
$25,000 for equipment improvements for the Harvard Police Department
“These local earmarks will fund essential projects in Acton, Shirley, Ayer, and Harvard, and I am proud that we were able to secure this funding,” said Rep. Sena. “Funding for these places and services will have a direct impact on our communities. I am happy to see this money come to our district.”
The $63.41 billion budget passed the Massachusetts House of Representatives 149-9 on April 29 after three days of debate. It now heads to the Massachusetts Senate for consideration.
